BOOK REVIEW
I posted a copy of the book to Linda Baumgarten, Curator of Textiles & Costumes at the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Williamsburg, U.S.A. (they have a large collection of Frank Moss Bennett's genre costumes, purchased after his death). Linda very kindly gave me permission to use a photograph that she had used in her book 'What Clothes Reveal' (printed by Yale University Press in 2002) her book also mentions Frank Moss Bennett. I was delighted to receive her comments almost by return of post, she stated....
"Thank you so much for the F. M. Bennett book you sent. What a wonderful contribution to the field! I was pleased to see a painting depicting one of our suits of livery - a painting I had not previously spotted or known about. Although I have not finished reading the book, I know there will be considerable information to add to our object files. Thank you and congratulations on such a successful project".

"A very interesting well researched book, it makes the prints much more meaningful when you know the background of the artist".
